cuv≡約一≡1≡1≡論到從起初原有的生命之道，就是我們所聽見、所看見、親眼看過、親手摸過的。
rsv≡約一≡1≡1≡That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon andtouched with our hands, concerning the word of life --
cuv≡約一≡1≡2≡（這生命已經顯現出來，我們也看見過，現在又作見證，將原與父同在、且顯現與我們那永遠的生命、傳給你們。）
rsv≡約一≡1≡2≡the life was made manifest, and we saw it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us --
cuv≡約一≡1≡3≡我們將所看見、所聽見的傳給你們，使你們與我們相交。我們乃是與父並他兒子耶穌基督相交的。
rsv≡約一≡1≡3≡that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
cuv≡約一≡1≡4≡我們將這些話寫給你們，使你們（有古卷：我們）的喜樂充足。
rsv≡約一≡1≡4≡And we are writing this that our joy may be complete.
cuv≡約一≡1≡5≡神就是光，在他毫無黑暗。這是我們從主所聽見、又報給你們的信息。
rsv≡約一≡1≡5≡This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.
cuv≡約一≡1≡6≡我們若說是與神相交，卻仍在黑暗裡行，就是說謊話，不行真理了。
rsv≡約一≡1≡6≡If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth;
cuv≡約一≡1≡7≡我們若在光明中行，如同神在光明中，就彼此相交，他兒子耶穌的血也洗淨我們一切的罪。
rsv≡約一≡1≡7≡but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Soncleanses us from all sin.
cuv≡約一≡1≡8≡我們若說自己無罪，便是自欺，真理不在我們心裡了。
rsv≡約一≡1≡8≡If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
cuv≡約一≡1≡9≡我們若認自己的罪，神是信實的，是公義的，必要赦免我們的罪，洗淨我們一切的不義。
rsv≡約一≡1≡9≡If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
cuv≡約一≡1≡10≡我們若說自己沒有犯過罪，便是以神為說謊的，他的道也不在我們心裡了。
rsv≡約一≡1≡10≡If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
cuv≡約一≡2≡1≡我小子們哪，我將這些話寫給你們，是要叫你們不犯罪。若有人犯罪，在父那裡我們有一位中保，就是那義者耶穌基督。
rsv≡約一≡2≡1≡My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if any one does sin, we have an advocate withthe Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
cuv≡約一≡2≡2≡他為我們的罪作了挽回祭，不是單為我們的罪，也是為普天下人的罪。
rsv≡約一≡2≡2≡and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
cuv≡約一≡2≡3≡我們若遵守他的誡命，就曉得是認識他。
rsv≡約一≡2≡3≡And by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
cuv≡約一≡2≡4≡人若說我認識他，卻不遵守他的誡命，便是說謊話的，真理也不在他心裡了。
rsv≡約一≡2≡4≡He who says 'I know him' but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
cuv≡約一≡2≡5≡凡遵守主道的，愛神的心在他裡面實在是完全的。從此我們知道我們是在主裡面。
rsv≡約一≡2≡5≡but whoever keeps his word, in him truly love for God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him:
cuv≡約一≡2≡6≡人若說他住在主裡面，就該自己照主所行的去行。
rsv≡約一≡2≡6≡he who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
cuv≡約一≡2≡7≡親愛的弟兄啊，我寫給你們的，不是一條新命令，乃是你們從起初所受的舊命令；這舊命令就是你們所聽見的道。
rsv≡約一≡2≡7≡Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.
cuv≡約一≡2≡8≡再者，我寫給你們的，是一條新命令，在主是真的，在你們也是真的；因為黑暗漸漸過去，真光已經照耀。
rsv≡約一≡2≡8≡Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
cuv≡約一≡2≡9≡人若說自己在光明中，卻恨他的弟兄，他到如今還是在黑暗裡。
rsv≡約一≡2≡9≡He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still.
cuv≡約一≡2≡10≡愛弟兄的，就是住在光明中，在他並沒有絆跌的緣由。
rsv≡約一≡2≡10≡He who loves his brother abides in the light, and in it there is no cause for stumbling.
cuv≡約一≡2≡11≡惟獨恨弟兄的，是在黑暗裡，且在黑暗裡行，也不知道往那裡去，因為黑暗叫他眼睛瞎了。
rsv≡約一≡2≡11≡But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, becausethe darkness has blinded his eyes.
cuv≡約一≡2≡12≡小子們哪，我寫信給你們，因為你們的罪藉著主名得了赦免。
rsv≡約一≡2≡12≡I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his sake.
cuv≡約一≡2≡13≡父老啊，我寫信給你們，因為你們認識那從起初原有的。少年人哪，我寫信給你們，因為你們勝了那惡者。小子們哪，我曾寫信給你們，因為你們認識父。
rsv≡約一≡2≡13≡I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you know the Father.
cuv≡約一≡2≡14≡父老啊，我曾寫信給你們，因為，你們認識那從起初原有的。少年人哪，我曾寫信給你們；因為，你們剛強，神的道常存在你們心裡；你們也勝了那惡者。
rsv≡約一≡2≡14≡I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
cuv≡約一≡2≡15≡不要愛世界和世界上的事。人若愛世界，愛父的心就不在他裡面了。
rsv≡約一≡2≡15≡Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
cuv≡約一≡2≡16≡因為凡世界上的事，就像肉體的情慾，眼目的情慾，並今生的驕傲，都不是從父來的，乃是從世界來的。
rsv≡約一≡2≡16≡For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.
cuv≡約一≡2≡17≡這世界和其上的情慾都要過去，惟獨遵行神旨意的，是永遠常存。
rsv≡約一≡2≡17≡And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever.
cuv≡約一≡2≡18≡小子們哪，如今是末時了。你們曾聽見說，那敵基督的要來；現在已經有好些敵基督的出來了，從此我們就知道如今是末時了。
rsv≡約一≡2≡18≡Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come;therefore we know that it is the last hour.
cuv≡約一≡2≡19≡他們從我們中間出去，卻不是屬我們的；若是屬我們的，就必仍舊與我們同在；他們出去，顯明都不是屬我們的。
rsv≡約一≡2≡19≡They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us;but theywent out, that it might be plain that they all are not of us.
cuv≡約一≡2≡20≡你們從那聖者受了恩膏，並且知道這一切的事（或作：都有知識）。
rsv≡約一≡2≡20≡But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all know.
cuv≡約一≡2≡21≡我寫信給你們，不是因你們不知道真理，正是因你們知道，並且知道沒有虛謊是從真理出來的。
rsv≡約一≡2≡21≡I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and know that no lie is of the truth.
cuv≡約一≡2≡22≡誰是說謊話的呢？不是那不認耶穌為基督的麼？不認父與子的，這就是敵基督的。
rsv≡約一≡2≡22≡Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
cuv≡約一≡2≡23≡凡不認子的，就沒有父；認子的，連父也有了。
rsv≡約一≡2≡23≡No one who denies the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.
cuv≡約一≡2≡24≡論到你們，務要將那從起初所聽見的，常存在心裡。若將從起初所聽見的存在心裡，你們就必住在子裡面，也必住在父裡面。
rsv≡約一≡2≡24≡Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.
cuv≡約一≡2≡25≡主所應許我們的就是永生。
rsv≡約一≡2≡25≡And this is what he has promised us, eternal life.
cuv≡約一≡2≡26≡我將這些話寫給你們，是指著那引誘你們的人說的。
rsv≡約一≡2≡26≡I write this to you about those who would deceive you;
cuv≡約一≡2≡27≡你們從主所受的恩膏常存在你們心裡，並不用人教訓你們，自有主的恩膏在凡事上教訓你們。這恩膏是真的，不是假的；你們要按這恩膏的教訓住在主裡面。
rsv≡約一≡2≡27≡but the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as hisanointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.
cuv≡約一≡2≡28≡小子們哪，你們要住在主裡面。這樣，他若顯現，我們就可以坦然無懼；當他來的時候，在他面前也不至於慚愧。
rsv≡約一≡2≡28≡And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shameat his coming.
cuv≡約一≡2≡29≡你們若知道他是公義的，就知道凡行公義之人都是他所生的。
rsv≡約一≡2≡29≡If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that every one who does right is born of him.
cuv≡約一≡3≡1≡你看父賜給我們是何等的慈愛，使我們得稱為神的兒女；我們也真是他的兒女。世人所以不認識我們，是因未曾認識他。
rsv≡約一≡3≡1≡See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
cuv≡約一≡3≡2≡親愛的弟兄啊，我們現在是神的兒女，將來如何，還未顯明；但我們知道，主若顯現，我們必要像他、因為必得見他的真體。
rsv≡約一≡3≡2≡Beloved, we are God's children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
cuv≡約一≡3≡3≡凡向他有這指望的，就潔淨自己，像他潔淨一樣。
rsv≡約一≡3≡3≡And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
cuv≡約一≡3≡4≡凡犯罪的，就是違背律法；違背律法就是罪。
rsv≡約一≡3≡4≡Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
cuv≡約一≡3≡5≡你們知道主曾顯現，是要除掉人的罪；在他並沒有罪。
rsv≡約一≡3≡5≡You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.
cuv≡約一≡3≡6≡凡住在他裡面的，就不犯罪；凡犯罪的，是未曾看見他，也未曾認識他。
rsv≡約一≡3≡6≡No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him.
cuv≡約一≡3≡7≡小子們哪，不要被人誘惑，行義的纔是義人，正如主是義的一樣。
rsv≡約一≡3≡7≡Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous.
cuv≡約一≡3≡8≡犯罪的是屬魔鬼，因為魔鬼從起初就犯罪。神的兒子顯現出來，為要除滅魔鬼的作為。
rsv≡約一≡3≡8≡He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared wasto destroy the works of the devil.
cuv≡約一≡3≡9≡凡從神生的，就不犯罪，因神的道（原文是種）存在他心裡；他也不能犯罪，因為他是由神生的。
rsv≡約一≡3≡9≡No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.
cuv≡約一≡3≡10≡從此就顯出誰是神的兒女，誰是魔鬼的兒女。凡不行義的就不屬神，不愛弟兄的也是如此。
rsv≡約一≡3≡10≡By this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not do right isnot of God, nor he who does not love his brother.
cuv≡約一≡3≡11≡我們應當彼此相愛。這就是你們從起初所聽見的命令。
rsv≡約一≡3≡11≡For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
cuv≡約一≡3≡12≡不可像該隱；他是屬那惡者，殺了他的兄弟。為甚麼殺了他呢？因自己的行為是惡的，兄弟的行為是善的。
rsv≡約一≡3≡12≡and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deedswere evil and his brother's righteous.
cuv≡約一≡3≡13≡弟兄們，世人若恨你們，不要以為希奇。
rsv≡約一≡3≡13≡Do not wonder, brethren, that the world hates you.
cuv≡約一≡3≡14≡我們因為愛弟兄，就曉得是已經出死入生了。沒有愛心的，仍住在死中。
rsv≡約一≡3≡14≡We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.
cuv≡約一≡3≡15≡凡恨他弟兄的，就是殺人的；你們曉得凡殺人的，沒有永生存在他裡面。
rsv≡約一≡3≡15≡Any one who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
cuv≡約一≡3≡16≡主為我們捨命，我們從此就知道何為愛；我們也當為弟兄捨命。
rsv≡約一≡3≡16≡By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
cuv≡約一≡3≡17≡凡有世上財物的，看見弟兄窮乏，卻塞住憐恤的心，愛神的心怎能存在他裡面呢？
rsv≡約一≡3≡17≡But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
cuv≡約一≡3≡18≡小子們哪，我們相愛，不要只在言語和舌頭上，總要在行為和誠實上。
rsv≡約一≡3≡18≡Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth.
cuv≡約一≡3≡19≡從此就知道我們是屬真理的，並且我們的心在神面前可以安穩。
rsv≡約一≡3≡19≡By this we shall know that we are of the truth, and reassure our hearts before him
cuv≡約一≡3≡20≡我們的心若責備我們，神比我們的心大，一切事沒有不知道的。
rsv≡約一≡3≡20≡whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
cuv≡約一≡3≡21≡親愛的弟兄啊，我們的心若不責備我們，就可以向神坦然無懼了。
rsv≡約一≡3≡21≡Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
cuv≡約一≡3≡22≡並且我們一切所求的，就從他得著；因為我們遵守他的命令，行他所喜悅的事。
rsv≡約一≡3≡22≡and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
cuv≡約一≡3≡23≡神的命令就是叫我們信他兒子耶穌基督的名，且照他所賜給我們的命令彼此相愛。
rsv≡約一≡3≡23≡And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
cuv≡約一≡3≡24≡遵守神命令的，就住在神裡面；神也住在他裡面。我們所以知道神住在我們裡面是因他所賜給我們的聖靈。
rsv≡約一≡3≡24≡All who keep his commandments abide in him, and he in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.
cuv≡約一≡4≡1≡親愛的弟兄啊，一切的靈，你們不可都信，總要試驗那些靈是出於神的不是，因為世上有許多假先知已經出來了。
rsv≡約一≡4≡1≡Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets havegone out into the world.
cuv≡約一≡4≡2≡凡靈認耶穌基督是成了肉身來的，就是出於神的；從此你們可以認出神的靈來。
rsv≡約一≡4≡2≡By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
cuv≡約一≡4≡3≡凡靈不認耶穌，就不是出於神；這是那敵基督者的靈。你們從前聽見他要來，現在已經在世上了。
rsv≡約一≡4≡3≡and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.
cuv≡約一≡4≡4≡小子們哪，你們是屬神的，並且勝了他們；因為那在你們裡面的，比那在世界上的更大。
rsv≡約一≡4≡4≡Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
cuv≡約一≡4≡5≡他們是屬世界的，所以論世界的事，世人也聽從他們。
rsv≡約一≡4≡5≡They are of the world, therefore what they say is of the world, and the world listens to them.
cuv≡約一≡4≡6≡我們是屬神的，認識神的就聽從我們；不屬神的就不聽從我們。從此我們可以認出真理的靈和謬妄的靈來。
rsv≡約一≡4≡6≡We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
cuv≡約一≡4≡7≡親愛的弟兄啊，我們應當彼此相愛，因為愛是從神來的。凡有愛心的，都是由神而生，並且認識神。
rsv≡約一≡4≡7≡Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God.
cuv≡約一≡4≡8≡沒有愛心的，就不認識神，因為神就是愛。
rsv≡約一≡4≡8≡He who does not love does not know God; for God is love.
cuv≡約一≡4≡9≡神差他獨生子到世間來，使我們藉著他得生，神愛我們的心在此就顯明了。
rsv≡約一≡4≡9≡In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
cuv≡約一≡4≡10≡不是我們愛神，乃是神愛我們，差他的兒子為我們的罪作了挽回祭，這就是愛了。
rsv≡約一≡4≡10≡In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.
cuv≡約一≡4≡11≡親愛的弟兄啊，神既是這樣愛我們，我們也當彼此相愛。
rsv≡約一≡4≡11≡Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
cuv≡約一≡4≡12≡從來沒有人見過神，我們若彼此相愛，神就住在我們裡面，愛他的心在我們裡面得以完全了。
rsv≡約一≡4≡12≡No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
cuv≡約一≡4≡13≡神將他的靈賜給我們，從此就知道我們是住在他裡面，他也住在我們裡面。
rsv≡約一≡4≡13≡By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his own Spirit.
cuv≡約一≡4≡14≡父差子作世人的救主；這是我們所看見且作見證的。
rsv≡約一≡4≡14≡And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world.
cuv≡約一≡4≡15≡凡認耶穌為神兒子的，神就住在他裡面，他也住在神裡面。
rsv≡約一≡4≡15≡Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
cuv≡約一≡4≡16≡神愛我們的心，我們也知道也信。神就是愛；住在愛裡面的，就是住在神裡面，神也住在他裡面。
rsv≡約一≡4≡16≡So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides inhim.
cuv≡約一≡4≡17≡這樣，愛在我們裡面得以完全，我們就可以在審判的日子坦然無懼。因為他如何，我們在這世上也如何。
rsv≡約一≡4≡17≡In this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so are we in this world.
cuv≡約一≡4≡18≡愛裡沒有懼怕；愛既完全，就把懼怕除去。因為懼怕裡含著刑罰，懼怕的人在愛裡未得完全。
rsv≡約一≡4≡18≡There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love.
cuv≡約一≡4≡19≡我們愛，因為神先愛我們。
rsv≡約一≡4≡19≡We love, because he first loved us.
cuv≡約一≡4≡20≡人若說「我愛神」，卻恨他的弟兄，就是說謊話的；不愛他所看見的弟兄，就不能愛沒有看見的神（有古卷：怎能愛沒有看見的神呢）。
rsv≡約一≡4≡20≡If any one says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.
cuv≡約一≡4≡21≡愛神的，也當愛弟兄，這是我們從神所受的命令。
rsv≡約一≡4≡21≡And this commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should love his brother also.
cuv≡約一≡5≡1≡凡信耶穌是基督的，都是從神而生，凡愛生他之神的，也必愛從神生的。
rsv≡約一≡5≡1≡Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and every one who loves the parent loves the child.
cuv≡約一≡5≡2≡我們若愛神，又遵守他的誡命，從此就知道我們愛神的兒女。
rsv≡約一≡5≡2≡By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.
cuv≡約一≡5≡3≡我們遵守神的誡命，這就是愛他了，並且他的誡命不是難守的。
rsv≡約一≡5≡3≡For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
cuv≡約一≡5≡4≡因為凡從神生的，就勝過世界；使我們勝了世界的，就是我們的信心。
rsv≡約一≡5≡4≡For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.
cuv≡約一≡5≡5≡勝過世界的是誰呢？不是那信耶穌是神兒子的麼？
rsv≡約一≡5≡5≡Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
cuv≡約一≡5≡6≡這藉著水和血而來的，就是耶穌基督；不是單用水，乃是用水又用血，
rsv≡約一≡5≡6≡This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood.
cuv≡約一≡5≡7≡並且有聖靈作見證，因為聖靈就是真理。
rsv≡約一≡5≡7≡And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is the truth.
cuv≡約一≡5≡8≡作見證的原來有三：就是聖靈、水，與血，這三樣也都歸於一。
rsv≡約一≡5≡8≡There are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree.
cuv≡約一≡5≡9≡我們既領受人的見證，神的見證更該領受（該領受：原文是大）了，因神的見證是為他兒子作的。
rsv≡約一≡5≡9≡If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has bornewitness to his Son.
cuv≡約一≡5≡10≡信神兒子的，就有這見證在他心裡；不信神的，就是將神當作說謊的，因不信神為他兒子作的見證。
rsv≡約一≡5≡10≡He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne to his Son.
cuv≡約一≡5≡11≡這見證就是神賜給我們永生；這永生也是在他兒子裡面。
rsv≡約一≡5≡11≡And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
cuv≡約一≡5≡12≡人有了神的兒子就有生命，沒有神的兒子就沒有生命。
rsv≡約一≡5≡12≡He who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son of God has not life.
cuv≡約一≡5≡13≡我將這些話寫給你們信奉神兒子之名的人，要叫你們知道自己有永生。
rsv≡約一≡5≡13≡I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
cuv≡約一≡5≡14≡我們若照他的旨意求甚麼，他就聽我們，這是我們向他所存坦然無懼的心。
rsv≡約一≡5≡14≡And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
cuv≡約一≡5≡15≡既然知道他聽我們一切所求的，就知道我們所求於他的，無不得著。
rsv≡約一≡5≡15≡And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him.
cuv≡約一≡5≡16≡人若看見弟兄犯了不至於死的罪，就當為他祈求，神必將生命賜給他；有至於死的罪，我不說當為這罪祈求。
rsv≡約一≡5≡16≡If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that.
cuv≡約一≡5≡17≡凡不義的事都是罪，也有不至於死的罪。
rsv≡約一≡5≡17≡All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal.
cuv≡約一≡5≡18≡我們知道凡從神生的，必不犯罪，從神生的，必保守自己（有古卷：那從神生的必保護他），那惡者也就無法害他。
rsv≡約一≡5≡18≡We know that any one born of God does not sin, but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.
cuv≡約一≡5≡19≡我們知道，我們是屬神的，全世界都臥在那惡者手下。
rsv≡約一≡5≡19≡We know that we are of God, and the whole world is in the power of the evil one.
cuv≡約一≡5≡20≡我們也知道，神的兒子已經來到，且將智慧賜給我們，使我們認識那位真實的，我們也在那位真實的裡面，就是在他兒子耶穌基督裡面。這是真神，也是永生。
rsv≡約一≡5≡20≡And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, to know him who is true; and we are in him whois true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
cuv≡約一≡5≡21≡小子們哪，你們要自守，遠避偶像！
rsv≡約一≡5≡21≡Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
