TITLE: How Do I Know the Bible is True?
Reference: Jim Cymbala, Fresh Faith, Zondervan Pub House, 1999.
Ephesians 2:8 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
- What is not faith?
- Intellectual
- Emotional
- Temporary
- Conditional
- What is faith?
- Trust Jesus alone with your life
- Not just to believe, but to keep on believing
- Unconditional, total surrender
- Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:6)
- Examples (Abraham, Wesley)
- What does Bible say about faith?
- Jesus was amazed by people’s faith. (Luke 7:9, Matthew 15:28)
- Faith alone is the trigger that releases divine power. (1 Peter 1:5)
- Faith as small as a muster seed can move the mountain (Matthew 17:20).
- Jesus declared, “..he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”(John 6:35)
- Jesus said “.. if you believe, you would see the glory of God.”(John 11:40)
- So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)
