Title: The Journey of Life
Preacher: Rev David Chan
Bible verses: John 14:6
We talked about “Life” during the Summer English Gospel Camp. We said “Life is a journey.” (ref: Rev Billy Graham, The Journey) You have no choice about who are your parents, but you have choices to decide who you will be. When you grow up, you will have more and more choices. The past was a historic story of your life, but your future does not need to be a copy of the past. Your life’s journey can be different. You’ve just heard the stories of two fellows from US about how their life got changed. And also a mother tried to walk with her teen to a right path. I hope you could see how life can be different with God. If you are not in a right path, our God wants to put you on it. God’s path promises joy, peace and purpose far beyond anything you could have imagined.
There are three great truths about our “Journey of Life”. First, God put us on the “Journey of Life”. We are not here by chance or by accident, we are here because God put us here. Jeremiah accepted God and His calls, he became a prophet of the Jewish people (Jeremiah 1:5). King David blessed by God since he was a teenager, he praised God in Psalm 139:16 “Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” God gives us life. He has a beautiful plan and purpose for us. We need to fulfill His purposes until we return to Him. We have important tasks assigned by God.
Second, God wants to walk with us in the journey. God does not only put us on the journey, He also wants to join us. Why? It’s all because God cares about us. He loves us and wants to help us. This is very important. The journey of life is always not easy or trouble free. If we understand God cares about us, we know the present of God will gives us hope. The hope that we will have better tomorrow. Even if we refuse God, He never abandoned us (Deuteronomy 31:8). God doesn’t want us to be alone. Jesus promised: “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matt 28:20).
The third truth is that God calls us to take His path. God doesn’t want us get stud or waste time on our journey. He knows which one is the right trail. God has laid out a path that leads us to true life. Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life.” (John 14:6) God’s path delivers what He has already promised. We will have faith from the above, hope and peace in our inner heart, love and forgive each other without fear. God’s path lead us home, our true home is in heaven.
You and I are on “The journey of life”. God knows our strength, our weakness, our success, our failure and our existing problems. Jesus wants to bless our life fruitfully (John 10:10). Dear friends, life can be different with the present of our Lord Jesus Christ! May God bless your new journey in Him.
